St. Louis City pools remain closed due to Lifeguard shortage

Missouri

ST. LOUIS – Pools are closed in St. Louis City due to a lifeguard shortage.

The Post-Dispatch reported the Saint Louis Parks and Recreation Department said it only has about half of the lifeguards needed. It takes about 40 lifeguards to safely monitor the Chambers, Fairground, and Marquette pools as well as the city’s four indoor pools.

They say they only have 20 right now.

The city usually opens its pools Memorial Day weekend or the weekend after.
