LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. – Three people died Thursday morning in a head-on crash on Highway JJ in Lincoln County, Missouri.
The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. just south of Lakeview Drive. The crash is just south of Elsberry, Missouri.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Cpl. Dallas Thompson said it was a head on crash. There was one individual in one vehicle and two people in a second vehicle. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
State police identified the victims as 23-year-old Charles Edgar, 40-year-old Richard Lamb, and 41-year-old Denise Presley.
Thompson said one of the vehicles failed to navigate the turn and crossed the center line, hitting the second vehicle head on. He said investigators are trying to figure out if speed was a factor.
Thompson said it’s also possible the driver had a tire go off the road and overcorrected, which caused them to lose control. Either way, he said drivers need to be safe on those winding, rural roads.
