ST. LOUIS — Detectives are investigating after two people were shot in their car Friday night in south St. Louis during an attempted robbery.

The shooting happened near Dover Street and Pennsylvania Avenue around 7:45 p.m.

Officers say when they arrived to the scene they found a 35-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the neck. Another victim, a 53-year-old man, approached officers and told them he was also shot in the arm. He told police that he and the woman were sitting in his parked car when they were approached by a suspect in a white Volkswagen Passat. The suspect got in the victim’s car and attempted to rob them.

The male victim gave money to the suspect and was told to drive. He said while he was driving her heard a gunshot and tried to get out of the car while it was moving, but he was shot in the arm. The woman was shot in the neck.

The suspect and suspect vehicle, which was following, left the scene in an unknown direction.

Both victims were taken to the hospital. The man was listed as critical but stable condition. The woman who was shot in the neck was listed as critical/unstable condition but is expected to survive.
