Woman shot and killed outside Gen X Clothing store in Fountain Park; suspect in custody

ST. LOUIS – Once again, gun violence has created more sadness and grief after a young mother believed to be in her early 20s was shot and killed outside a clothing store in north St. Louis.

The shooting took place at Gen X Clothing in the 4900 block of Page Boulevard.

Witnesses and police said the woman and her boyfriend were inside the store when an argument began between the two. Outside the store, the woman was shot twice — once in the head and once in the chest. She was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

In the meantime, the boyfriend allegedly got into the woman’s maroon Chevrolet Cobalt and drove away. It’s believed two young girls were inside in the vehicle, one of whom was the dead woman’s daughter.

“It’s bad, it’s bad; people just shooting each other for whatever reason,” said Lashada Moore, whose daughter was inside the store at the time of the shooting. “It’s sad and she’s a mother and a young mother at that. Something like this happens, it’s sad, and I’m just scared and in fear of my daughter’s life because there’s just too much stuff going on.”

St. Louis police eventually located and apprehended the suspect without further incident.
