ST. LOUIS – St. Louis police are investigating a carjacking that happened overnight in the Hamilton Heights neighborhood.

According to a spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the carjacking occurred just after midnight at the Mobil gas station in the 5500 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive.

The victim, a 45-year-old woman, was at a gas pump when a man approached her asking for a light. She told the man she didn’t have a lighter, at which point he lifted his shirt and displayed a gun.

The victim was then forced to get out of her 2005 Jaguar S-Type and the suspect drove away in the vehicle.

The Jaguar was later found burned on the 5600 block of Maffit Avenue. No more information has been released as this is an ongoing investigation.
