ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Major League Soccer is going to examine possible locations for a soccer stadium in downtown St. Louis, as well as financing and ownership options for a potential franchise, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Thursday.

This doesn’t necessarily mean a team is coming to St. Louis, according to MLS Commissioner Don Garber, but the league is examining all possibilities.

The league’s announcement comes weeks after the Rams abandoned St. Louis and opted for a return to Los Angeles after years of negotiations on a new stadium failed.
