ST. LOUIS (KTVI) - It took a while to get here, but once the winter storm arrived in the St. Louis metro it kept MoDOT crews very busy.

A mix of snow and sleet started falling at the MoDOT Transportation Management Center in Town and Country about 7:45am.

And it didn`t take long for it to transition to all snow and coat the highways.

MoDOT had full crews of more than 200 trucks ready to go hours before the storm.

So it didn`t take them long to hit the roadways once the sleet and snow started falling.

We saw lots of MoDOT trucks out including a gang plow on 270 north.

We also saw some spin outs and crashes-no serious injuries reported.

The snow is relatively short-lived in our area, it is expected to be done by a little later today.

MoDOT hopes to have the roads well-cleared by the end of today.

MoDOT is asking people to delay going out if possible until later today after they are able to work on clearing the roads.
