(THE WEATHER CHANNEL) – Peru has declared a state of emergency in many of the country’s Andean provinces, after a series of blizzards have hit the mountainous Andean country. Peru is suffering through some of the deepest snow in decades, where 3 feet of snow fell stranding 12,000 people in the Peruvian city of Puno.
The Antarctic cold front has also affected Bolivia and Paraguay, forcing the governments of both nations to close roads, schools and try to get emergency aid those in the mountains.
So far, 6 deaths have been attributed to the freezing cold in the region that has killed more than 5,000 cattle, and a staggering quarter million Alpacas
