ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – A mother is killed while saving her 10-year-old daughter from getting hit by a car.  It happened during a trip to a south city drug store.

The accident occurred just after 6 pm at the Walgreens located at Holly Hills and Gravois in south St. Louis where the mother and her daughter were walking in or out of the store, when a 50-year-old woman apparently slammed on the gas instead of the brakes, jumped the curb, hitting the 30-year-old mother and killing her. The mother had just enough time to push her child out of the way.

The driver of the vehicle was send to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The 10-year-old girl was unhurt and placed in the care of her family.
