Mount Olive teachers go on strike Monday

MOUNT OLIVE, IL (KTVI)-Teachers in Mount Olive, Illinois, will hit the picket lines on Monday morning. The teachers set the strike date earlier this week.  They’ve been working under an expired contract since the start of the school year and negotiations with the school board over salary and benefits have broken down.

Teachers  plan to canvass the town this weekend to distribute flyers to explain their issues. The educators could have walked out on Friday, but decided to give parents some warning by picking a Monday start date.
