Two women shot on WB I-44 near Washington Avenue

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- Multiple shots were fired into a car as it was heading westbound on I-44 near Washington Avenue. The shooting occured around 2:40a.m. Monday morning.

Investigators say the women were driving along westbound I-44 when they heard a bunch of shots fired and a car speed by them.

There were three adult women in the car. Two of them were shot multiple times from the waist down. The third woman in the car was not injured. The car that the women were in stopped in a grassy area just south Madison Avenue at I-70, in downtown St. Louis.

The two women who were shot are in critical but stable condition and are expected to survive.

At this point, police have no suspects or a description of the car that the shots came from.

It is unclear if the women were targeted or if the attack was random.
