Former Navy SEAL Sculpts To Ease Memories Of War

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) -  Stephen Otten, 34 graduated from Belleville West High School in 1996 where he was a competitive swimmer.  After graduation, he joined the Navy.  His ambition in high school was to become a Navy SEAL.  On December 17, 1999, he did just that.  Graduating class 226 of Buds.  He served three tours as a member of SEAL Team 3, in Africa, Afghanistan and Iraq where he was a sniper.

After serving 12 years in the Navy, 10 as a SEAL, he returned home suffering from PTSD.  He's not able to sleep because his mind is always racing.  So he has turned to his other passion of sculpting to help him deal with his PTSD.  He is currently working on a sculpture at Graniterra at Kingshighway and I-44, that is to represent everything that is right with our Veterans.  This video tells his story including his message to all veterans.
