New biotech & pharmaceutical facility opens in St. Charles

ST. CHARLES, MO. (KTVI) – Pharma Medica Research Inc. and Governor Nixon opened a new pharmaceutical and biotechnology research facility Wednesday in St. Charles. Pharma Medica Research Inc. is a Toronto based contract research company that serves companies in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.

The facility cost approximately $31 million, and is expected to create 320 jobs over the next several years.

Gov. Nixon praised the opening of facility, “Pharma Medica’s decision to invest in St. Charles will create hundreds of jobs in this region and strengthen Missouri’s position as a leader in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries – two sectors that continue to provide high-paying jobs and spur economic growth throughout the Show-Me State.”
Missouri currently has over 4,000 biotech companies operating in the state.
