SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) _ Illinois will form a task force to come up with rules for the use of drones under a plan signed into law by Gov. Bruce Rauner.

The Republican inked the legislation Tuesday, offering no comment.

Members of the task force will be appointed by the governor and will include representatives from more than a dozen special interest groups, including law enforcement. The legislation takes effect immediately with members of the task force required to submit recommendations by July 1, 2016.

One sponsor is state Sen. Julie Morrison, a suburban Chicago Democrat. In a statement Morrison said she’d originally intended to ban the use of the unmanned aerial vehicles for hunting, but many groups were interested in the idea. She says they wanted a wider conversation.
