ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – The aim of a new law taking effect today is for Missourians to stay safe in work zones. Speeding, passing or intentionally hitting a barrel while in an emergency zone could lead to fines of up to a $1,000.
You’ll also have to pay an additional fine if the violation happens near law enforcement officers, firefighters, medical personnel or tow-truck operators who are responding to a roadside issue. Speeding or passing near them will carry a $250 fine for the first offense.
