CHERSTERFIELD, MO (KTVI) – A new park is set to be opened on April 11th in Chesterfield Valley.
To look around, you would have no idea that you are standing only feet from I-64, a bustling outlet mall and hockey arena.
This is truly a slice of heaven tucked away behind the Taubman Outlet Mall in Chesterfield Valley. The lake, which is the heart of River's Edge Park, was originally formed during the Great Flood of 1993.
It was much smaller then, only about 17.5 acres, but was made a lot bigger when fill dirt was needed to beef up the nearby Monarch Levee. Folks who come here will find 2.5 miles of trails.
There is a large pavilion for picnics and soon there will be a boat dock where folks can launch their kayaks, canoes or paddle boards, no motors allowed.
As for fishing, the lake has not yet been stocked, although there are some very large fish already in the lake, presumably descendants from those who were trapped in the original lake following the flood of 1993.
An open house has scheduled for Saturday, April 11th.
