No Pets Allowed At PrideFest 2013

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- The organizers of PrideFest 2013 have announced a
big change. No pets will be allowed at this year’s festivities. Service animals will be permitted.

In a online post, Pride St. Louis, Inc. says that while they know many people will be disappointed, they are concerned about the health and safety of attendees and their pets.

“Local vets have reported dozens of cases of dogs with burnt paw pads following PrideFest weekend. There is also no way to check for animal vaccinations, which could potentially expose healthy pets to diseases including parvo, distemper, or rabies.”

They also state that large crowds and loud music can also be stressful for pets.

The June 29-30, 2013 festival is also moving downtown this year. It had previously be held in Tower Grove Park.
