(KTVI) – Velda City police chief calls urgent meeting of north county municipal leaders for later this month.

In an apparent effort to come together in some way in the event that Governor Nixon signs a senate bill that would limit the amount of revenue cities could bring in through traffic courts and require accreditation within six years.

Chief Dan Paulino said the bill would “have a serious impact on not only public safety but the very existence of your city.”

Paulino couldn’t be reached for comment but the Normandy Police Department is critical of the move for a meeting because it only includes elected officials and not police chiefs.

In a Facebook post, the department said it was perhaps another misguided “cooperative” designed to lure cities into partnerships by fear.
