CEDAR HILL, MO (KTVI) – Monday night was so much more than just a normal girl’s basketball game at Northwest high school in Jefferson County.

Tonight the proceeds from admission tickets and donations went to the “Friends of Kids with Cancer” in honor of Amy Simos, a math teacher at Northwest High School who lost her battle with breast cancer two years ago.

The theme for tonight’s game was star light, star bright playing for a cure tonight.

Simos donated her time to fundraising for cancer research while battling her own cancer.

Tonight the school and community hoped to surpass last year’s donation of $1,200.
