NWS Issues Tornado Emergency For Oklahoma City

**EMBARGO: Oklahoma City** A rash of tornadoes wreaked havoc in Oklahoma and the Midwest on Sunday and Monday, destroying homes and tossing trees around like toothpicks. But the destructive weather isn’t over. Baseball-sized hail, wind gusts and tornadoes could pummel parts of the central Plains and Midwest through Monday.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The National Weather Service issued a rare tornado emergency for the Oklahoma City metropolitan area Monday afternoon as at least one twister touched down in the area. A tornado emergency is enhanced wording in a tornado warning indicating a large tornado is moving into a heavily populated area. Significant widespread damage and numerous fatalities are possible.
