O’FALLON, MO (KTVI) - An O'Fallon, Missouri resident is raising awareness about an IRS tax scam. Deb Davis received seven calls over the last two days from Pennsylvania and New York. According to the fake recorded message, the IRS was suing her for taxes owed. The problem is, Davis has never been in trouble with the IRS. After returning one of the calls, Davis got the name and badge number (which she's sure was fake) of the caller then filed a report with the IRS and the Federal Trade Commission online. When she tried the number again, she discovered it was no longer in services. And was glad she filed a report and did not part with her hard-earned cash.
