ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – A St. Louis police officer opened fire early Tuesday morning after investigators say a suspect tried to run over the officer. Fortunately, that officer was not hurt in all of this.

It happened about 3:00 a.m. near Choteau and Kingshighway just south of Highway 40. Investigators say a St. Louis police officer approached a car when the driver tried to run over the officer.

Authorities say the officer fired six shots but did not hit anyone. At some point, police say they received an officer in need of aid call which sent more police to the scene.  Police say the person behind the wheel tried to drive off but ran into a pole.  That suspect was taken into custody.

At this point, we don’t know anything about the suspect or why the officer was with the car in the first place. But again, neither the officer or the suspect was hurt in the incident.
