ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – St. Louis police are investigating a case where three officers shot a man, overnight Saturday.

It happened shortly before 1 am in the 5100 block of Cates at Academy.

Police say when they got to the scene a 50-year-old man stepped out onto the front porch and began shooting at a 52-year-old man who had approached police.

The 3 officers returned fire, striking the gunman, who is in stable condition.

He eventually surrendered to police.

Police say they believe the 50-year-old had entered a bedroom in the home and shot the 52-year-old while he was sleeping.

According to department policy, the three officers have been temporarily placed on administrative leave.
