Report of explosive device in downtown St. Louis prompts heavy police response

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Police were investigating a report of an explosive or hazardous device this afternoon near the Civil Courts Building across from City Hall in downtown St. Louis.  Someone flagged down an officer and said an explosive device was inside of a vehicle located at the Civil Courts Building.

Officers were currently canvassing the area at the intersection of 11th and Market streets.  Firefighters can be seen parked along 11th street.

Police say the person who reported the information was suffering from a psychotic episode. EMS responded for evaluation. No explosive device was located, and the area has been cleared.
