ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Street racing may be to blame for an overnight crash just north of downtown that left one person dead. It happened near North Broadway and Hempstead.
The single car crash happened around midnight. Investigators say a white Mercury was speeding north on Broadway when the driver lost control and slammed into that concrete pillar at a warehouse loading dock.
At this point, police are only identifying the victim as 24-year-old Michael Boone. Police say the man had to be cut from the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say street racing is only one possibilities authorities are investigating. No one else was hurt.
