ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Gunfire hit a one-year-old boy in a public park Monday night in the Baden neighborhood in north St. Louis.

According to police, the shooting happened around 8 p.m. at Hickey Park. The boy was in a car with his parents when the gunfire started. A bullet went through both of the child’s thighs. The boy’s parents realized he’d been shot and rushed him to a local hospital.

The boy is listed in stable condition.

This shooting comes just one week after a six-year-old boy was shot to death near O’Fallon Park. Marcus Johnson Jr. was also shot as he was sitting in his parents’ car. Someone in the car returned fire then police were called to the scene. An officer rushed Johnson to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police are searching for the persons responsible in both shootings. Anyone with information is encouraged to call CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS.
