Parents and kids enjoy children’s garden on a chilly Sunday

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – As the cold fall temperatures make their way across the St. Louis Metro area, parents and kids bundled up and took advantage of the last day of the season at the Missouri Botanical Children's Garden. The kid themed garden is in its 9th year had plenty of visitors.

Volunteer Mary Carol says the day was filled with music, face painting, games and more. The 10 year volunteer was also geared up for the cold.

"Anybody who comes here knows you have to be ready for whatever Mother Nature gives us and today we have clouds so we dressed in layers." said Carol

Jennifer Wolff with the Missouri Botanical Gardens says they close down to make preparations for the spring.

"It is our transition period the children’s garden takes a hibernation time. We spend with winter and fall months replacing and repairing we also try to ramp up and add new things." said Wolff

The children’s garden will reopen next spring. Other areas of the botanical garden are open year round.
