WASHINGTON COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – A 15-year-old Park Hills girl was killed Thursday morning after her car was struck by a dump truck on a Washington County highway, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

The accident took place at 6:50 a.m. on Highway 21 at Simpson Road. The driver, identified as Erin Mathenia, was turning onto the highway in a 1996 Plymouth Neon when her car was struck. Her 36-year-old mother and 14-year-old brother were in the vehicle as well.

Mathenia was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:45 a.m. She was wearing her seatbelt. Her mother suffered serious injuries. Her brother was not injured in the collision.

The driver of the dump truck was not hurt.
