Pedestrian struck and killed on Lilac overpass at I-270; driver wanted

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - St. Louis County police are searching this for an SUV driver who was involved in a deadly hit and run in north county.

A spokesperson telling us this morning that authorities believe the vehicle involved is a gold or silver Chevy Tahoe.

A county police official said an officer on his way to another call found the victim lying in the street on the Lilac overpass above I-270 just after 8:30 p.m. last night.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators believe the man was in the street on Lilac when he was hit. They don’t know why he was in the roadway.

Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name but they do tell us he was in his 50s.

The vehicle that hit the man took off west on I-270 immediately after the incident.

Investigators tell us Chevy emblem from the vehicle involved was discovered at the scene.

Authorities said the SUV they’re looking for will likely have front end damage and will probably be missing that Chevy emblem.
