ST. LOUIS (KTVI)- A pedestrian was struck and killed on Interstate 70 in St. Louis Friday afternoon. Just after Noon, the driver of an SUV saw the victim, identified as Alex Case, 25, standing on the roadway. He swerved to avoid him, but clipped him with his side-view mirror, knocking the victim to the ground. A second driver behind the first vehicle saw the SUV swerve to miss the man and attempted to do the same, but struck the man while he was on the ground.

Case was pronounced dead at the scene.

The interstate was shut down in both directions while the accident was investigated.
