ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Police are trying to piece together what happened during a shooting at a restaurant in Berkeley that claimed the life of a 56-year-old man.

Officers were called to Nephew's Grill at around 1:30 p.m. in The 8600 block of Frost for a shooting. FOX 2 spoke to the owner of the restaurant. He said the victim was known to do odd jobs in the neighborhood.

The owner was out back cleaning in the alleyway when he heard at least seven shots. There may have been four men fleeing the scene in two cars: one black and one white.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

The owner said he was in the process of helping the victim and was planning to take him to a job interview later in the day before the shooting.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the Berkeley Police Department at 314-524-3311.
