Philando Castile’s funeral set in St. Louis this weekend

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – The man shot and killed by police in Minnesota, whose death sparked protests, was originally from St. Louis. Philando Castile’s final resting place will be in his hometown. Services for him will take place this weekend .

Castile’s body arrived in St. Louis Thursday. Family and friends of Castile will gather Saturday morning to say their final goodbyes.

Castile was shot and killed by a Minnesota police officer two months ago during a traffic stop. It was reported Castile told the officer he was licensed to carry a gun. The aftermath of the fatal shooting causing nationwide outrage.

The family held services in Minnesota a few weeks ago. A horse drawn carriage with red and white roses, carried his casket to St. Paul where more than 3,000 people attended the services. A similar service with a visitation will be held in St. Louis.

The visitation services will be held Saturday morning at Ronald Jones Funeral Chapels, located at 2161 East Fair Avenue from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the funeral procession to proceed to Calvary Cemetery. That will be Castile’s final resting place.
