CLAYTON, MO (KTVI) – A police involved shooting that occurred on July 5, 2014, has been ruled justified by St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCulloch. The shooting involved a Pine Lawn officer and an unarmed man during a traffic stop along I-70 and Jennings Station Road. The officer had discovered that the car was linked to a person wanted by authorities.

During the traffic stop, the driver sped away crashing the vehicle a short time later. The driver fled scene but the officer chased him down.

The two struggle and that’s when the suspect was shot and killed.

McCulloch ruled that the shooting was “not excessive under the circumstances”.
