ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-A local business is joining the $3.5 billion plant-based food industry. Combining ancient wisdom with modern innovation, Karuna has launched a line of plant-based, eco-friendly superfoods beverages from it’s production facility in downtown St. Louis.
Karuna creator Angela Zeng studied at St. Louis University and Washington University in St. Louis. She combined her education in science and nutrition with her understanding of traditional Chinese medicine to develop the natural, wholesome line of drinks she says have numerous health benefits.
Zeng’s company uses ingredients rich in nutrients and low in sugar and calories. The beverage line includes Karuna Heal, Karuna Hydrate and Karuna Fuel. Karuna products may be found at Whole Foods Markets (Brentwood and Central West End), United Provisions (Delmar Loop) and in select Dierbergs stores.
