O'FALLON, MO (KTVI) - O’Fallon, Missouri Police are investigating a deadly shooting at a home owned by a key figure in a sensational murder investigation.  Police say it appears the deadly shooting was the result of a burglary.  Investigators say an intruder made his way into a house on Little Brave Dr. before he was shot and killed.

Property records show the house is owned by Pamela and Mark Hupp.  Pamela Hupp was a key figure in the investigation of the 2011 stabbing death of Betsy Faria.  Russ Faria was convicted but eventually exonerated in that case.

O’Fallon Police Chief Roy Joachimstaler deflected questions about the identity of the shooter.  He said he did not want to jeopardize his investigation, and said it was too soon to know if there was any connection to the Faria case.

“You’re going to turn over every rock, and so to say that we’re looking for anything specific no, we’re looking to do a thorough and complete investigation of this,” said Joachimstaler.

The chief said his department received the initial call for help approximately 12:10pm Tuesday.  He said a second 911 call was made a short time later from the woman inside the house.  He said the shooter cooperated with investigators and provided a complete statement.

“This initially began in her driveway while she was in her car,” said Joachimstaler.  “And a person, the decedent, approached here there.”

The chief said there was some type of confrontation before the intruder followed the woman into the house.

“She fired a round of shots, and he collapsed there,” said Joachimstaler.

He said the shooter told investigators she did not know the intruder.
