North County man charged with manslaughter in Moline Acres Death

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO – Sunday 33-year-old Huston Grace, Jr. was charged with manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a Moline Acres man Saturday evening.  Moline Acres police officers were summoned to the 2300 block of Gardner Drive for a shooting Saturday evening around 5:30 p.m. Police say officers arriving on the scene found an adult male with a gunshot wound inside a residence.

Police gave this account of the events leading to the fatal shooting:  Hutson Grace had went over to the victim’s home with beer, marijuana and a handgun proceeding to drink and smoke while assembling a gun.  While assembling the gun, police say Grace pointed the weapon at the victim several times and was warned not to so.  As he proceeded to put a trigger lock on the gun, the firearm discharged striking the victim in the head.  The victim  died at the scene.

Police have stated a witness confirmed the events and that the defendant has also admitted to the events that occurred.

Grace is being held on a $250,000 cash-only bond at the St. Louis County Justice Center.

The Moline Acres Police Department has requested assistance from the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons for the investigation.
