ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO – The St. Louis County Police Department is investigating a double shooting that left one person dead. The fatal shooting occurred on Sunday, February 9th around 8:30 a.m. in the 10200 block of Valley Drive.
Officers were summoned to the address for a shooting. Upon arrival officers located 2 females in a home suffering from gunshot wounds.
One victim was treated for life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital. The second victim, a 17-year-old, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police tell FOX 2/NEWS 11 the suspect, Gino Branch, 41, of St. Louis was taken into custody. He has been charged with murder, armed criminal action, domestic assault, endangering the welfare of a child and tampering of evidence.
The probable cause statement says: “The defendant and the victim were in a relationship, resided together, and had children in common. The defendant shot the victim and the victim’s daughter, 17 years of age. The defendant picked up spent shell casings and threw them in the trash. The defendant told two children, 6 years of age, who were in the residence at the time of the shootings, to put on their coats and get in the car with him. The suspect drove to Valley Park, MO, where he placed the firearm used in the shootings into a bag and threw it into a dumpster. The defendant then drove to Troy, IL, to a convenience store, where he stated he killed two people in North County.
Branch is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center on a $1-million-dollar cash-only bond.
An investigation is ongoing.
