CENTREVILLE, IL. (KTVI) – Illinois State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting in Centreville. The shooting happened just before 9:00 p.m. Monday. Authorities say they got a 9-1-1 call for a domestic stabbing incident on Piggot and Tudor.
When officers arrived, they found a woman standing in the front of the apartment complex holding a knife. When they tried to arrest her, there was a struggle.
Captain Jim Morrisey with the Illinois State Police said, “The officer attempted to take the female into custody, there was a struggle, during which time the officers gun was fired striking the female once.”
The woman who was shot was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police are now interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance video to determine exactly what happened.
