HOLLISTER, Mo. – Authorities are asking for help finding two men suspected of posing as police officers in southwest Missouri.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that the men are accused of contacting a Hollister resident around 5:10 p.m. Monday wearing shirts with the word “POLICE” written in gold on them. Hollister Police said in a news release that neither man displayed a badge.

The release says the two men claimed they were investigating identity theft and child pornography. Police say the two men—both about 6 feet tall—took down personal information, then left. One drove a white Ford Crown Victoria with “Sheriff”written on the side. The release says the other man drove a black SUV with no markings.
