Police looking for knife-wielding robbery suspect

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Investigators with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating a man who robbed a south city retailer earlier this month.

The robbery occurred February 4, just after 4:05 p.m., at the Family Dollar in the 5300 block of Virginia Avenue, located in the Carondelet neighborhood.

The suspect approached the counter, stood behind a wheelchair-bound customer, and held a knife to that person’s throat. The suspect demanded cash and eventually left with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police described the suspect as an African-American man, standing about 6’1” tall and weighing approximately 145 pounds, with a goatee and mustache, and last seen in a red Adidas hoodie.

The suspect fled in a tan vehicle driven by an African-American woman.
