Eric Fowler wanted for shooting a police officer

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI)- The search continues for a man police say shot an officer.  Eric Fowler, 27, is charged with first degree assault on a police officer and armed criminal action.

The shooting took place just off Lucas and Hunt, not far from the Norwood Country Club.  St. Louis County Police say Folwer tried to break into a home in the  5800 block of Eagle Valley Drive.

When officers arrived, they saw Fowler get into a gray Dodge Avenger and try to leave the scene.   As the officers approached the car, he drove towards them.  Police say Fowler stopped the car and started firing shots at the officers.

One officer was hit near his gun belt.  Another officer fired shots at Fowler, but he managed to drive away.   It is unknown whether or not the suspect was shot.

The police officer was taken to an area hospital where he was  treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Fowler remains on the loose and is considered armed and dangerous.
