GLENDALE, MO (KTVI)- The St. Louis Major Case Squad has released new details in the reported murder-suicide of a Glendale, MO mother and her two children.

Authorities say, at this point in time, the husband and father, Mitchell Murch II, is not considered a suspect.

According to police, they received a 9-1-1 call from Murch on Monday reporting that he heard multiple gunshots at his home on Hawbrook Road. A second 9-1-1 call was received from Murch saying that his wife shot their two children then shot herself.

When they arrived, police found Murch on the first floor performing CPR on his 11-year-old son, Mitch Murch III. His wife, Cathy Murch, was found dead in the kitchen. The 9-year-old daughter, Mary Claire Murch, was found shot upstairs. Both children were rushed to area hospitals where they were pronounced dead.

All three suffered from gunshot wounds.

Authorities are still waiting for preliminary results from the St. Louis County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Crime Lab. Police say there is a possibility that this is a murder-suicide, but it’s too early in the the investigation to say. They did not release a possible motive.

Mitch Murch II was taken to police headquarters for questioning and later released. Police stated that they have not sought him out for further questioning and, at this time, do not consider him a suspect.

Police say the investigation is still on-going. Police do say that this was an isolated incident and that there is no reason for neighbors to be concerned about a suspect at large.

If anyone has any information in the case, they are asked to contact the Major Case Squad at the Glendale Police Department at (314) 965-0000.
