HAZELWOOD, MO (KTVI) - Police are searching for two armed suspects this morning after an overnight break in at the Cabela's store at the St. Louis Outlet Mall in Hazelwood. Police believe the suspects were after guns and they may have left with some weapons. Glass was shattered on one of the front doors at the store.

Hazelwood police got an alarm call at the business around 3:10 a.m. When the first officer arrived, he saw a U-Haul truck driving away from the front of the business.

However, police say the truck drove over a curb and got stuck. We`re told as the Hazelwood officer approached the truck, two male suspects got out armed with rifles and ran away.

Police from Hazelwood, Bridgeton and St. Louis County searched on the ground for some time. A police helicopter also helped from the air. But the intense search turned up nothing.

Investigators tell FOX 2 that several firearms were recovered from the back of the U-Haul truck including rifles and handguns. Police believe the suspects were able to get those guns out of Cabela's before the first officer arrived. Investigators tell us it is possible that the suspects might have been able to make off with some guns stolen from Cabela's as they ran from police.

The ATF has been called in and an inventory is being done at Cabela's to see if any guns are missing. Police say the U-Haul was stolen from a lot in north St. Louis County.

This is all part of what`s being called a 'thorough' investigation by authorities now ongoing.
