ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – A big key to getting the stadium deal done is acquiring all the land in north St. Louis for a stadium over-looking the river in the shadow of the new Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge.
About 90 acres have to be assembled. That`s the part that may start moving forward as early as Thursday: the St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority is expected to pass a resolution to authorize the hiring of consultants to develop the proposed 64,000 seat stadium to be opened by 2020. A technical step, but an important one that shows this is more than just a lot of talk and snappy drawings. As for the financing, the idea of rolling over current tax payer financing from the Edward Jones Dome to the new stadium comes down to a question of how much NFL football is worth to St. Louis.
