ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – A prostitute convicted of exposing hundreds of men to HIV four years ago is charged with the same crime again.

St. Louis County police received a tip that this HIV-positive woman was once again working as a prostitute.  They spotted her advertisement on Craigslist, and an undercover officer set up a meeting with her.

This past Friday night, he met 25 year-old Nigaila Gibbs at the Clarion Hotel near Lambert Airport.  When she agreed to have sex with the undercover officer for money, he took her into custody.  Gibbs never disclosed her HIV positive status.

Back in 2010, Gibbs was also caught by an undercover officer.

At that time, FOX 2 reported there could be hundreds of local men exposed, since she admitted to performing sexual acts with two partners a day, four times a week.  Gibbs also admitted that she did not warn these clients she had HIV.

Not long after her 2010 conviction, she was back on the streets, thanks to a suspended jail sentence.  FOX 2 spoke with St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch, who says its unclear how many partners she may have infected since 2010.

McCulloch says she could face up to 15 years in prison.  He explains, “We want to keep her off the street…and in addition to the $100,000 cash bond, we filed a motion to revoke her probation on the previous case, based upon the new one coming in. So hopefully we’ll be able to keep her in jail for some time on this, at least keep her out of the public.”

If you’ve been in contact with Nigaila Gibbs, and think you may have been exposed to HIV, seek medical attention immediately, and contact St. Louis County police.
