ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Cardinals fans played a game of hurry up and wait Monday when they arrived at Busch Stadium for the team's home opener. Some waited in long lines for more than an hour before clearing metal detectors mandated by Major League Baseball. The devices worked properly. Administrators didn't anticipate a record setting crowd to attend the game. They promise to do better during this week's games and apologized to fans for the delay.
Fans are encouraged to arrive extra early to the games, be prepared to remove items from their pockets, have their tickets in hand, and to use all of the gates around the ball park to help make the lines move faster.
