CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) _ Rick Stream’s losing margin for St. Louis County executive grew slightly after general election results were certified Tuesday, but the state lawmaker still hasn’t ruled out requesting a recount.
Certified results show that the Republican state lawmaker from Kirkwood lost to Democrat Steve Stenger, a County Council member, by 1,854 votes. That’s about a margin of about 150 more votes than the unofficial results from the November 4 election.
The Stream campaign issued a statement Tuesday saying that a decision on whether to seek a recount will be made “in the coming days.”
Stream has 30 days to do so under state law, since he lost by less than 1 percent of the total vote.
