Fire official: One injured in manhole explosion in downtown St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (KTVI)  –  The St. Louis Fire Department says one person was injured in a flash fire inside a manhole in downtown St. Louis Friday morning.

Crews were called to the scene at 10th and Chestnut around 9 a.m.  According to the fire officials a worker was taking out de-energized wires for Ameren.  One of the de-energized lines hit a live line and caused a flash fire.

The worker suffered minor burns and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

There were no other injuries reported.
