JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – Pevely Police were called to the Pevely Point subdivision for a report of a person in a clown mask with a knife. Police arrived on the scene quickly and found nothing. Investigators are concerned that these are prank calls.

On September 21st, the Granite City Police Department posted information on its Facebook page about creepy clown sightings around town.

Police said they’ve responded to at least five calls and were unable to find the pranksters. It’s believed a group is going around Granite City and scaring random people.

And while authorities have stressed there doesn’t appear to be a public safety issue, they want to at least make sure residents are aware of the issue to hopefully stop more incidents from happening in the city.

Creepy clown sightings have also become a trend nationwide, as multiple communities have reported the same behavior, prompting local police departments to investigate the cases. Since last summer, scary clown sightings have been reported from the Georgia all the way to Green Bay, Wisconsin.
