PACIFIC, MO (KTVI) - The search for a missing father and son on the Meramec River near the Pacific Palisades has ended for the night.
Michael Hill, 36, and David Hill, 6, went missing at around 12:45pm and were last seen at the river access off of Franklin Road. The South County Fire Department launched a boat and the Metro Air Unit searched for the two missing men in the river.
A woman calling police said she lost sight of her husband and 16 year old son at around 10:45am. Her husband was last seen wearing a flannel shirt and blue jeans. He is a white male with a long beard. Her son is also a white male and was wearing a flannel shirt and blue jeans.
Police say the subjects are still considered missing. There is nothing at this time that has lead investigators to believe an accidental drowning has taken place.
The missing people are from Beach Park, Illinois and were on a vacation.
"They were fishing," Lt. Ron Varner said. "They had no intention to go in the water."
Police questioned Michael Hill's wife at the scene and said she was so distraught that she needed medical attention.
She eventually followed police to the West County Precinct.
